SOUL
“…and a gentleman.”

Nurture the Soul
The auditorium lights dim, and spotlights illuminate students poised for performance. They shimmy gracefully across the stage, dance costumes glittering. In the background, more students add musical harmony to the scene—a classic snapshot of Cempakans performing and complementing one another. After months and months of dedication, Cempakans learn the timeless art of expressing themselves visually, vocally, and musically. They perfect themselves in the arts, exploring exciting areas of dance, speech, drama, vocal training, musical performance, and visual art.

Commitment and Care
Cempakans have the chance to devote their time not only to a cause, but to an adventure of exploration, practice, and cultivating a passion. The arts enable them to feel, to experience life beyond the material realm, as they pour their souls out through interpretive dances or meaningful music.

Firing the Spirit

Sri Cempaka is unique from other schools in its tactic of persuading students to participate both inside and outside of the classroom. Its Award Log Book records each student’s efforts and accomplishments in community service, school events, societies, sports, uniform corps, and expeditions. The awards that students receive for excellence and dedication groom them into becoming more involved, determined individuals.

A Whole New World
Cempakans take many exotic field trips that both strengthen and stimulate their mental and emotional interests. Whether it be scuba diving, canoeing, or hiking in frigidity, these field trips open students’ eyes to new environments and cultures. And consequently, the bond between themselves and their fellow classmates grows even greater.

Cempakans are so recognized for their talent and dedication that they have even been sponsored by the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage to perform at the Malaysia Festival in faraway Sydney, Australia! A group called “Cempaka Beat” plays on traditional drums for the Festival, which brings Malaysian culture, food, language, and traditions to new places and teaches students more about their roots as well.

Cempaka—Where the Heart Is
A strong emphasis on community service lavishes upon students a spirit of social responsibility. The Cempaka Caring Society (PAPS) organizes numerous community service activities, including charity drives and regular visits to the hospital. Each activity offers students a chance to escape from their reality, opening eyes to the lives of less-privileged children and creating a greater sense of compassion.
